only check Indycals

The seventy-fifth running of the Indianapolis 500 was definitely worthy of the diamond running moniker emblazond on the race logo that year. The race saw the most legendary front row ever with Mario Andretti on the outside, A. J. Foyt - in his 32nd start - in the middle and Rick Mears on the pole for a record breaking sixth time.

The race came down to a battle between Michael Andretti and Rick Mears, with Andretti looking like the car to beat. Mears was leading on a late race restart. As the race went green, Michael Andretti made a daring move on the outside of Mears going into turn one. But Mears was not going to be one-upped. On the very next lap it was Mears making the daring move on the outside of turn one! At that point Andretti had nothing left for Mears, who joined A. J. Foyt and Al Unser Sr. as the races only four-time winners.
