Due to it's ultra-low and wide profile, the 1963 Harvey Aluminum car by Mickey Thompson was dubbed the Rollerskate. Three cars showed up for the race, one in white, one in blue and one in red. Only the red one, driven by Duane Carter Sr. made the race. The Chevy in Carter's car blew a rod at the halfway point of the race, relegating him to 23rd place after starting 15th.
