The 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix may have been the most hard-earned victory of Senna's career. During the race Senna had to fight off Nigel Mansell, Ricardo Patrese, the loss of third, fourth and fifth gears which forced him to take slow turns in sixth gear (and nearly stalling), late race rain, muscle cramps and fever. Senna was so exhausted by the end of the race he could not get out of the car himself and had to be driven to the podium in the medical car.
