only check Indycals

In 1988 Penske Racing did something that no other team had ever done at Indianapolis - they put three cars on the front row.

They 'sort of' repeated the feat the following year. Three Penske PC18's graced the front row, but only the top two spots - Rick Mears and Al Unser Sr. - belonged to Penske; the third PC18 was entered by Patrick Racing and driver Emerson Fittipaldi. Penske's third driver, Danny Sullivan, who was coming off a championship season, crashed and broke his arm in practice. In a very uncharacteristic race, none of the Penske entered cars finished, but their 'car' still ended up in Victory Lane in the hands of Emerson Fittipaldi.
