only check Indycals

Penske racing had planned to use their own chassis for the 1984 season, but by the time Indianapolis rolled around, the team was using March 84C chassis, which the Penske team had slightly modified to their liking. Rick Mears put his Pennzoil March on the front row next to Mayer racing team mates Tom Sneva and Howdy Holmes. When the race got underway it looked like it might turn into a classic duel between Mears and Sneva, but a broken CV joint caused Sneva to drop out and allowed Mears to cruise to an easy two-lap victory. Rick followed up the win with a second place at Milwaukee the next week, but when practicing for the new race at Sanair Speedway in Canada, Mears suffered season ending injuries to his feet. The injuries required major reconstruction and limited his schedule in 1985, before making a full time return to the series in 1986.

Designed for the 1/25 scale resin kit by Calvin Sallee at Classic Racing Resins (top photo), available in other scales too. Please note, the actual decals are printed in magenta instead of red - when the magenta is placed on the yellow car it will turn the proper shade of red.
