only check Indycals

For the first three-fourths of the 2005 Indianapolis 500, Dan Wheldon maintained a low profile. But he took the lead at lap 150 and for the next 50 laps the Andretti Green driver would battle the Rahal Letterman cars of Vitor Miera and Danica Patrick. After a caution when the leaders, including Wheldon, pitted for what should be the last time, Danica and Bryan Herta stayed out, Herta leading. Danica passed Bryan on the restart to lead at lap 172. Forced to conserve fuel, Danica was passed by Wheldon on lap 186, just as another caution came out. On the restart with ten laps to go, Danica passed Wheldon and led for the next three laps – just seven away from victory, but fuel concerns forced her to back off and she was passed by Wheldon, team mate Vitor Miera and Bryan Herta. Wheldon held the lead when the final caution came out with one-and-a-half laps to go, taking the white and yellow flag and taking the checker under the yellow for his first Indianapolis 500 win, and the first for car owner Michael Andretti.
