The 1976 Formula One season was a classic battle between rivals and friends Niki Lauda and James Hunt. Niki Lauda looked well on his way to defending his 1975 world championship. After winning two races in the 312T, Lauda won 3 more in the 312T2 before suffering a near fatal accident at the Nurburgring where it looked so dire that last rites were administered. Despite this, Lauda returned to the cockpit only 6 weeks later even though his facial burns had not yet healed. Going into the last race at Japan Lauda still lead the world championship. But the race was started in a torrential downpour. Lauda decided that it was too unsafe and retired from the race, allowing James Hunt to score just enough points to win the championship.

Designed for use with the 1/20 Tamiya McLaren M23 kit. For decades this car has been depicted as dayglo red with a black pinstripe outlining the dayglo. But careful attention to photographs taken during the 1976/77 seasons clearly show that the pinstripes were in fact, metallic gold! These decals are designed to be used with the kit decals and any aftermarket tobacco markings (sorry, not available here) to replicate the accurate gold stripes of the car.

These decals are currently unavailable while we re-assess our gold printing capabilities.
