Stirling Moss dominated the 1956 Monaco Grand Prix, leading all 100 laps in his Maserati. An incident on lap 86 caused by brake failure on anothter car damaged the Maserati sufficiently to allow Juan Manuel Fangio close on Moss at a rate of 2 seconds per lap, but Moss was able to hold on for a 6 second margin of victory.
