Tensions were high for the 1971 12 hours of Sebring; the race's future was in doubt due to demands by the FIA to improve the circuit. Furthermore, Ferrari driver, and 1970 Sebring winner Ignacio Giunti was killed two months earlier when his car plowed into the stalled Matra of Jean Pierre Beltoise (that Beltoise was pushing). As a result neither Ferrari or Matra had a factory entry in 1971. Nevertheless there were still five Ferraris entered and Mark Donohue in a Penske Sunoco Ferrari put the car on pole with Mario Andretti in another Ferrari next to him. Donohue lead early while Vic Elford in the Martini Porsche was involved in a minor shunt that required attention and slighlty affected the steering of the car. By hour four Andretti had a lap lead in the Ferrari. Unfortunately the Ferrari had an F1 style gearbox that was not designed for endurance runs and his day came to an early end. By hour six Elford had worked his way to the lead and the Martini team would hold that lead until the finish.

Fujimi did a nice job with their 1/24 scale kit of this car but the deals require layering of different colors, creating extra work and thicker end results. This sheet takes all the layering into accoutn providing a better finished result. As with all our decals, these are available in multiple scales.
