The 1966 Sebring 12 hour race saw two tragic accidents - one that killed four spectators who were in an off-limits area, and one where driver Bob McLean crashed his GT40, rupturing the fuel tank, trapping him inside to burn to death as the race went on unabated.

Dan Gurney was leading on the last lap of the race when his engine died - Ken Miles passed him for the win, but Gurney got out and pushed the car across the line in 2nd place... however this move disqualified him and second place went to the Holman Moody GT40 of Mark Donohue and Walt Hansgen.
